Physiotherapy
At Northway School physical development is extremely important; we focus on the development of gross motor skills for every child and referrals are made to the physiotherapy team as and when necessary. A child will also see the physiotherapy team if it is stated on their Educational, Health Care Plan (EHCP).
The goal is to enable all of our pupils to be able to use their gross motor skills to become as independent as possible.
At Northway we can offer three types of treatment:
- Physiotherapy – an exercise program developed for each individual case and applied in school under the supervision of a qualified physiotherapist from the NHS
- Hydrotherapy – exercise work in the water, focusing on specific movements to improve the area of need identified
- Osteopathy - Palpation of tissue followed by manipulation and massage techniques which are implemented in the school by a fully qualified osteopath with more than 15 years of experience
We are very lucky to have the skills and expertise of Christian, our Senior Physical Practioner, who is employed directly by Northway. He works alongside NHS physiotherapists to offer the three areas mentioned above.
